Managing your inbox from ChatGPT or Claude

How to connect Leave Me Alone to ChatGPT or Claude, and what you can ask your assistant to do

On this page

Leave Me Alone connects to AI assistants like ChatGPT and Claude. Once you've linked your account you can clean up your inbox just by chatting, and the assistant does the work through your Leave Me Alone account. Ask it to scan your inbox, unsubscribe from everything you haven't read in six months, or roll a pile of newsletters up into your daily digest.

It can do what the app does: connect mailboxes, find the senders cluttering your inbox, and unsubscribe, keep, or roll them up in bulk.

Connecting Leave Me Alone to your assistant

Whichever assistant you use, you'll need the Leave Me Alone connector address:

https://mcp.leavemealone.com

You only need to set this up once. Your assistant stays connected until you disconnect it.

Claude Code

Add the connector from your terminal:

claude mcp add --transport http leavemealone https://mcp.leavemealone.com

That makes it available in the project you're currently in. Add --scope user if you'd rather have it in every project.

Then start Claude Code, run /mcp, choose leavemealone, and follow the sign-in in your browser. If you'd rather not open a session first, claude mcp login leavemealone does the same thing from the terminal.

Claude desktop app and claude.ai

  1. Open Customize > Connectors.
  2. Click + Add, then Add custom connector.
  3. Give it a name, like "Leave Me Alone".
  4. Enter https://mcp.leavemealone.com and click Continue.
  5. Leave the authentication settings as they are, since we fill those in for you, and continue.
  6. Click Add.
  7. Find Leave Me Alone in your connectors list and click Connect.

ChatGPT

  1. Go to chatgpt.com/plugins.
  2. Click the plus button, then Add custom MCP server.
  3. Enter a name and description, like "Leave Me Alone".
  4. Under Connection, enter https://mcp.leavemealone.com.
  5. Check the authentication settings, read the warning ChatGPT shows you about third-party servers, and click I understand and want to continue.
  6. Click Create as a plugin.
  7. Have a look through the tools it found, then connect and sign in.

If you can't see Add custom MCP server at all, your plan or your workspace settings don't allow custom servers, so you won't be able to add the connector from ChatGPT.

Signing in

Whichever assistant you're using, the sign-in happens on our side. You'll land on a Leave Me Alone page, sign in with your usual login, and then see a screen asking whether you want to let your assistant connect to your account. Read it over and click Allow, and you're connected. Head back to the chat and start asking.

Connecting a mailbox

If you haven't connected any inboxes yet, ask your assistant to do it for you:

"Connect my Gmail", or Outlook, or Yahoo.

It'll hand you a link. Open it, sign in to your email provider, and grant access, which is the same connect screen you'd see in the app. Once you're done, go back to the chat and ask it to scan.

You can connect more than one inbox, and the assistant works across all of them at once.

What you can ask it to do

Here's the sort of thing the assistant can do for you. You don't need to use exact wording, so just ask in your own words.

Scan your inboxes

"Scan my inbox"

Looks through your connected mailboxes for senders you're subscribed to. Scanning carries on in the background, so give it a moment and ask again to see how it's getting on.

Find the senders cluttering your inbox

"Show me who emails me the most" "Which senders haven't I opened in six months?" "Any new subscriptions since last week I should deal with?"

Each result is one sender, combined across every inbox they email you at. You can search by name, filter by status (subscribed, unsubscribed, kept, or rolled up), surface the ones you never read, or find the ones that are new since a given date.

Unsubscribe in bulk

"Unsubscribe from all of these" "Unsubscribe from these and bin their old emails too"

Unsubscribes from a batch of senders in one go, and it can move their existing mail to the trash at the same time if you ask.

Keep senders

"Keep the ones from my bank"

Marks senders as kept, so we leave them subscribed and skip them in future clean-ups. Handy for the ones you actually want to hear from. See How to keep an email in your inbox.

Roll senders up into a digest

"Roll these newsletters up into my daily digest"

Rather than unsubscribing, you can bundle senders into a Rollup, a scheduled digest that collects their mail into a single email so it stops landing in your inbox one message at a time. Ask "what rollups do I have?" to see yours.

You'll need a Rollup set up in the app before the assistant can add anyone to it, and if you have more than one it'll ask which one to use.

Change your mind

"Actually, resubscribe me to that last one"

Undoes an unsubscribe and resubscribes you to a sender.

A note on credits

Unsubscribing uses your Leave Me Alone unsubscribe credits, exactly as it does in the app. Keeping senders and rolling them up are always free.

If you run out of credits partway through a request, the assistant won't unsubscribe you from anything at all. It'll give you a link to top up or upgrade instead, so open that, come back, and ask again. In the meantime you can still keep or roll up senders at no cost.

Privacy and staying in control

  • It uses your account, with your permissions. The assistant can only do what you could do in the app yourself: find senders, unsubscribe, keep, roll up, and connect mailboxes.
  • You approve the connection. Nothing happens until you sign in and click Allow on the Leave Me Alone screen.
  • You can disconnect any time. Remove the Leave Me Alone connector from your assistant's settings and its access is gone. In Claude Code that's claude mcp remove leavemealone. You can still manage your connected mailboxes from the app as usual.

Troubleshooting

Clicking Allow didn't seem to do anything, or I wasn't signed in. You'll need to be logged in to Leave Me Alone in the same browser. If you land on a login page, sign in and the connect screen follows on from there.

The link to connect my mailbox expired. Those links are short-lived for security, lasting about ten minutes. Ask the assistant to connect the mailbox again and you'll get a fresh one.

My rolled-up senders aren't arriving in a digest. The Rollup they went into is probably switched off, and nothing is delivered until it's turned on. Turn it on in the app and your digest will start arriving on schedule.

It says I'm out of credits. Unsubscribing uses credits. Use the upgrade link the assistant gives you to top up, then ask again, or keep and roll up those senders instead, which is free.
