How to block emails with the Screener
How to enable Inbox Shield to start blocking unwanted emails from landing in your inbox
On this page
IThe Screener keeps strangers out of your inbox. When someone new emails you for the first time, we hold their message back instead of letting it through. It waits until you decide whether you want to hear from them, so the only people who reach your inbox are ones you've allowed.
The Screener works alongside our other features and you can mix and match: the Spam Blocker, Priority Senders, and Do Not Disturb.
Turn on the Screener
- Go to the Screener page.
- Click the toggle to switch it on.
From then on, we'll hold back mail from new senders so you can review it. Once you allow someone, the email that was screened, and all future emails come straight through to your inbox.

How to see what emails have been Screened
You can review all the emails that have been screened from the Screener page, here's where you can allow or block any sender that has been screened.
We will also send you a Daily Digest email that contains the emails that have been screened in the previous 24 hours so that you never miss a screened email.
How the Screener fits with everything else
The Screener only deals with new senders, and some mail never reaches it:
- Priority Senders always go straight to your inbox, no matter what.
- Anything caught by the Spam Blocker is blocked before it reaches the screener.
- Anything that you unsubscribed from already with the Unsubscriber.
- Anything you've set to rollup goes to its specific rollup.
- Anything that is a reply to an email that you sent
Everything else from a sender you haven't seen before waits in the Screener until you allow or block them.
Where your screened emails go
Nothing gets deleted. When we screen an email, we move it out of your inbox straight away into a folder called _lma-shield/screener. It stays in your email account, so you can always go back and look.
If you allow the sender, we move their emails back into your inbox. If you choose to block them then we make sure all their future emails go directly into the _lma-shield/screener without getting in your way.
We don't block your own replies
If you email someone, you probably want their reply to reach you.
By default we'll allow these replies through the Screener. If you send from other aliases, then you can also add these and we'll let their replies through too.
Combined with the Unsubscriber
If you want, we can also unsubscribe from senders when you block them (if they have an unsubscribe link). This means that you don't need to use the Unsubscriber as well as the Screener for new emails that you receive.
If you turn the Screener off
If you turn the Screener off we'll stop holding back new senders immediately, so mail from new senders goes straight to your inbox again.
Any senders that you have already blocked in the Screener will also come back into your inbox if they send you any new emails. Old emails that were screened wont be moved back into your inbox.
