### How long does it take?

Most scans finish in a few minutes, so feel free to grab a coffee while you wait. You don't need to stay on the page. We'll keep scanning in the background and let you know when it's done.

If you have a large mailbox, it can take longer. If your scan seems stuck and isn't finishing, [send us an email](mailto:support@leavemealone.com) and we'll take a look.

### What we scan, and what we don't

We scan your mailbox for mailing lists you've received in the **past 6 months**. In our experience, if a list hasn't emailed you in over 6 months, you've usually either already unsubscribed or been removed from it. If they start emailing you again later, the new emails will show up and you can unsubscribe as usual.

We scan your **inbox and all folders you've made yourself in your email client**.

**We don't scan your Spam or Trash folders by default.** Those folders usually contain emails your provider has already filtered or emails you've already chosen to discard, so including them would add a lot of noise without being especially useful.

:::warning
You can enable scanning the spam & trash folders if you want, but we don't recommend unsubscribing from spam emails, as this can inadvertently result in more spam! See this article for more info: [Can I unsubscribe from spam emails?](/doc/01642872-da21-4ec1-89d6-809c24cb7051)

:::

If your inbox contains newsletters in languages other than English, see [Finding subscriptions in other languages](https://link) to make sure we detect them.

**Once the scan is complete it's time to start unsubscribing!**
